Main Function for Alcohol Action Traffic Campaign are as follows:
- To reduce alcohol related crashes and corresponding serious injuries and fatalities in the city of Lafayette.
- To cause favorable attitude modification in driving population regarding the combining of alcohol and driving.
- To modify Pre-OWI behavior patterns to cause a decrease in the incidence of the offense.
- To promote general traffic safety education/enforcement through evolutionary development of the alcohol and seat belt traffic safety emphasis of the ATAC program into a more comprehensive traffic safety program. Added involvement would include research, public information, enforcement, and court based strategies targeted at such traffic categories as pedestrian safety, bicycle safety, defensive driving, traffic law violators, etc...
- To coordinate an alcohol Vender/Server Program seeking to train, educate and otherwise motivate compliance by alcohol sellers and servers with prevention strategies aimed at reducing alcohol related crime.
