The Office of Substance Abuse/Court Services manages both the Lafayette Consolidated Government’s 2100+ in-house employee drug/ alcohol policy and program along with serving as a monitoring and reporting agency for Criminal Justice offenders within the 15th Judicial District and Lafayette’s City Court.
The Office of Substance Abuse is responsible for administering the Lafayette Consolidated Government’s Drug and Alcohol Policy. As a result of its public safety responsibilities, citizen oriented services, public role within the community and obligation to provide a safe and secure work environment, with a compelling interest and commitment to eliminate illegal and unauthorized drug and alcohol use from the workplace.
In 1999, Criminal Justice Support Services saw a need in the Criminal Justice System to assist the repeat offender with rehabilitative educational components for juveniles and adults. With the support and assistance from Federal, State and Local government monies, all juvenile and indigent offenders are placed into these programs at little or no cost. Court Services provides educational programs for the following offenses; Prevention Plus (minor drug offenses), Level I & II Alcohol (OWI’s & alcohol related offenses), Anger Management ( simple assault), Values Clarification ( theft ). These programs service the City Prosecutor’s Office, District Attorney’s Office, State Office of Probation & Parole, Office of Youth Development, Misdemeanor Probation, F.I.N.S. (Families in Need of Services) and transferred cases from out of town court systems.
