Moral Reconation Therapy Program

Court Services Moral Reconation TherapyPurpose: The purpose of the Moral Reconation Therapy program is to provide insight and education to small group of individuals who have experienced harmful consequences in their life as a result of their alcohol and/or drug use, contact with the judicial system for theft or violent behavior or other destructive decisions. This program creates an atmosphere where accountability for your actions is the key to success. Each participant will work through a series of steps outlining their belief system and the choices that helped them arrive at their current situation. Program is normally court ordered, but self referrals are accepted. This program is utilized by both Lafayette City and Lafayette Parish District Courts.

Format: MRT will consist of at least twelve (12), two (2) hour sessions once a week. Information will be presented through the "How to Escape Your Prison" workbook which is required for the class. Each participant will work through the 12 steps and present the steps in a group setting. Certified MRT facilitators will oversee the group and the completion of each of the steps.

Location and Instructor: Sessions will take place at the Court Service Office, War Memorial Building, Building B, 2100 Jefferson Street, Lafayette, LA 70501. All classes will be taught by a certified MRT facilitator. Sessions are held on either Friday evening or Saturday mornings.

Content: The course will consist of 12 different lessons that cover trust, honesty, relationships, setting goals, making commitments, helping others and maintaining positive change.
