Norma Dugas is a native of Pecos, Texas and has lived in Lafayette since 1955. She has been employed by the City of Lafayette since 1974 beginning in the Department of Administration; in 1980 became Assistant to the CAO until 1992 when she moved to the City Council Office. She served as Assistant Clerk and was named City Clerk in 1994. With consolidation of City-Parish Government, she became Assistant Clerk and was named Clerk of the Council July 1, 2001. Dugas is an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a long term member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She served as a founding board member of LAMSA and is a current member of the Louisiana Municipal Clerks Association and the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. Dugas and her husband are the parents of four children and six grandchildren.
