Grandfathered PropertyThe City Parish Council adopted Ordinance 191-98, whereby any plat of property located in the unincorporated area of the Lafayette Parish having been recorded at the Lafayette Parish Clerk of Court’s office prior to June 30, 1998, may be considered “grandfathered.” A certified copy of the plat must be provided to the Planning, Zoning and Development Department. In the corporate limits of Lafayette, only residential property located on an existing public or private street may be considered for “grandfathering”.

If the property is “grandfathered”, then review by the Hearing Examiner or the Planning Commission is not required.
