Carlee Alm-LaBar serves as the Planning, Zoning, and Development Director for Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG), appointed by Mayor-President Joel Robideaux in January 2016. She is responsible for the coordination of development issues in the city and unincorporated parish of Lafayette.
In the first few months of the new administration, she has overseen a smooth transition to the Unified Development Code (UDC) and shepherded a proposal through the City-Parish Council and the Civil Service Board to cross-train the building officials in order to improve efficiency and customer service in the department.
She worked in the previous administration for nearly six years as the Chief Development Officer and as an assistant to former City-Parish President Joey Durel. During that time, she led several projects from the President’s Office including the development of the UDC, the comprehensive plan, Project Front Yard, the city’s first Better Block project, the Farmers and Artisans Market at the Horse Farm, the rebranding of LCG, and others.
She is the past chair and current board member of the Leadership Institute of Acadiana. She is a board member of several other organizations including the Junior League of Lafayette and the Lafayette Youth Soccer Association.
She has been awarded with an ABiz Women Who Mean Business Award and the Daily Advertiser’s Top 20 Under 40. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northwestern University and holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from LSU. She moved to Louisiana through the Teach for America program and prior to her appointment in government spent several years in the nonprofit field.
