Gerald Boudreaux, Director of Parks and Recreation (1985 - Present)
Gerald Boudreaux serves as the Director of the Parks & Recreation Department. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from UL-Lafayette in 1982. His employment with the department dates back to May, 1978 and he has held several positions prior to being appointed departmental director in 1985.
He is a past president of the United Way of Acadiana (1996) and has served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce (1989-91). He is still active with both organizations. He is a charter member of Kiwanis-Southwest LA and has served as its president in 1988 and 1997. He currently serves as a board member for Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and the Miles Perrett Cancer Center. He is a member of the Martin Luther King Holiday Committee and has served as chairperson since 1993. Additionally, he has served as a member of the UL-Lafayette Athletic Council since its inception in 1994.
In addition to his community and civic responsibilities, Gerald was active as a college basketball official from 1984 until 2006 and was selected to work the Final Four five times during his career. He currently serves as the Coordinator of Men's Basketball Officials for the Southeastern Conference. He and his wife Carlos along with daughters Brittney, Whittney and Hallie are members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
