Operations/Maintenance and Improvements

The Parks & Recreation Department staff persists in maintaining the parish's 36 parks, 10 recreation centers, four pools and three public golf courses to the standards expected by the parish's citizens.

An overview of 2007's more significant projects:

  • Arceneaux Park now has a new batting cage and slabs for future bleachers ($5,000); new ball field lights were also installed ($65,000)
  • A new boat ramp was installed at Beaver Park ($50,000)
  • Heymann Park received a new playground unit ($30,000)
  • Four playing fields and an installed playground unit are now part of Thomas Park ($30,000)
  • Four new backstops with dugouts were installed at Foster Park ($12,000); new concession stands were constructed ($28,000)
  • Four new sets of bleachers were installed at Clark Field ($25,000)
  • Oaklawn Park has a new playground unit ($17,000)
  • Ball field fences were upgraded at Carencro Park ($5,000)
  • Judice Park also upgraded ball field fences ($5,000)

TOTAL: $317,000
