Recreation Centers and Programs

The ten recreation centers of the Lafayette Parks and Recreation system serve as vital neighborhood components, linking residents of all demographics through classes, athletics and gatherings.

The recreation centers offer creative leisure programs to promote healthier lifestyles and enhance the quality of life for participants of all ages. Center leaders also work with local non-profit organizations to inform and educate citizens, and help to bring distinct groups together. But these facilities do not just serve as places of learning – fun happens here as well, with over 700,000 people participating in wedding receptions, graduation parties and dinners, family reunions, baby showers and sporting events.

Continuing an important tradition, over 1600 young people participated in the Summer Enrichment program this year. Enrollees, who pay a small fee for the program, enjoy a variety of workshops, field trips, recreational games, arts & crafts, and guest speakers.
