Major George Alfred
Patrol Division Commander

Major George Alfred began his employment with the Lafayette Police Department in June of 1978.  During the course of his career Major Alfred graduated from the LSU Juvenile Institute in 1984, and the prestigious Command College in 2007.  He has attended numerous seminars concerning subjects such as, Criminal Investigations, Incident Command, Narcotics, Hostage Negotiator and supervisory classes.  Departmental assignments have included the positions of patrol officer, youth services investigator.  He has supervised in the following sections: Narcotics, Detectives, ACTION, Training, Technical Support, Support Services, and Community Affairs.  Major Alfred served as the Patrol Division Commander in which he supervises the four precincts from 2004 through June of 2011.  He served as the Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division until going back to the Patrol Divsion in March of 2012.

Services Division Commander

Major Terry Head is a life long resident of Lafayette and began his career with the Lafayette Police Department in 1980.  During the course of his employment he has attended numerous seminars to include: Advanced Motorcycle Operator’s School, Diversity Training, NIMS, and the prestigious LSU Command College in 2007.  Departmental assignments include Patrol Officer, ATAC Officer and Traffic Officer.  Major Head has supervised in the following sections: Patrol, ATAC Sergeant, Shift Lieutenant, Patrol Shift Captain, and Assistant to the Patrol Major. He is currently assigned as the Services Division Commander.

Major Randy Vincent
Criminal Investigations Division Commander

Major Randy Vincent began his career with the Lafayette Police Department in September of 1981. He worked in the capacity of a patrolman until August of 1985, at which time he was assigned to Criminal Investigations Division (CID). While in CID he worked as a Property Investigator and as a Crimes Against Persons Investigator. In April of 1993, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and transferred to the District Attorney’s Office as Liaison Investigator and Supervisor of the Career Criminal Unit. In March of 2004 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assigned to the Patrol Division. In February of 2005, he transferred to the Services Division and was assigned as the Technical Section Lieutenant. In January of 2006 he was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned as a shift commander in the Patrol Division. In November of 2006 he was transferred to the Criminal Investigations Division as the Sections Captain where he has served until his promotion to Major. Upon his promotion Major Vincent served as the Patrol Division Commander, the largest division within the Lafayette Police Department, until March of 2012.  He is currently the Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division.
