UPDATE: Suspect Sought in Robbery of Convenience Store

                                                                                       UPDATE: Tip Leads to Arrest in Robbery
On August 5, 2010, at approximately 8:30 am, the Lafayette Police Department received information that the suspect involved in the August 4th robbery was located in the 1600 block of North University Avenue. Officers responding to the area located the suspect and transported him to the Lafayette Police Department. The suspect, Patrick Wayne Patterson (37) of Breaux Bridge, was arrested and charged by detectives with 1st Degree Robbery. The incident remains under investigation.

On August 4, 2010, at approximately 4:00 am, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to an armed robbery at 615 St. Landry. The clerk advised officers that the suspect entered the store with his hand concealed in a news paper and demanded the money from the register. An undisclosed amount of cash was given to the suspect and the suspect fled the area on foot. The suspect is described as a white male, thin build with facial hair wearing shorts and a t-shirt. The clerk was not injured during the robbery.

Detectives are asking for assistance from the public in identifying the suspect captured on video. Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect is encouraged to call the Lafayette Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
