One Injured in Overnight Shooting

 On August 5, 2010, at approximately 1:00 am, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to an area hospital regarding a victim with gunshot wounds. The victim advised officers he was inside of a nightclub in the 300 block of McKinley Street, when he and two friends had a physical encounter with a group of males. All of the participants in the disturbance were removed from the establishment. The victim stated that he and his two friends entered their vehicle in an attempt to leave the parking lot, when the suspects approached the back of the vehicle. One suspect produced a handgun and began firing shots into the vehicle. One of the occupants of the vehicle was struck once in the leg and twice in the back. The two other victims in the vehicle were not injured. The victims immediately fled the area and drove their injured friend to an area hospital. The suspects fled the area in an unknown direction. The shooter is described as a black male, approximately 6’4”, and appeared to be overweight.
