UPDATE: Sobriety Check Point Scheduled

During the course of the operation 1060 vehicles passed through the checkpoint located in the 4500 block of Johnston Street. Of those vehicles, 28 drivers were stopped for secondary testing. A total of 5 drivers were arrested and charged with OWI. Below is a list of those individuals arrested.

 
• Taurean L. Goss (18) - OWI 1st Offense
• Katherine L. Judice (25) - OWI 1st Offense
• Jean P. Boullion (29) - OWI 1st Offense
• Krystal A. Labove (40) - OWI 1st Offense
• Kimberly S. Koby (35) - OWI 1st Offense
In addition to the above arrest, 24 citations were issued for various violations, a Daniel Babin was arrested on an Outstanding Warrant and 1 vehicle was towed for not having proper proof of insurance.

On Friday, June 25, 2010, between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m., the Lafayette Police Department and the Lafayette Sheriff’s Office will be conducting an OWI Checkpoint within the incorporated limits of Lafayette. The purpose of the checkpoint is to target impaired drivers under the influence of alcohol or any other dangerous substance. Officers working the checkpoint will respond with zero tolerance to those drivers found to be under the influence. Designate a driver if you intend to drink, by not doing so, could result in costly fines and serious jail time.
