Suspect Arrested in ThursdayStabbing

On August 12, 2010, at approximately 11:53 am, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to the 100 block of Jefferson Boulevard regarding a stabbing. The victim, a 26 year old male of Lafayette, advised officers he was walking to the bus stop when the suspect attacked him and began stabbing him with a sharp object. The victim received a stab wound to the chest and arm. The suspect fled the area prior to officers arriving on scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Detectives were able to identify the suspect as Kevin J. Mouton (25) of Lafayette. An arrest warrant for Attempted Second Degree Murder was issued for the arrest of Mouton.

On August 13, 2010, at approximately 11:00 am, Kevin Mouton was located in Lafayette and arrested by Lafayette Police. Mouton was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. The case remains under investigation.
