Suspects Arrested Allegedly Responsible for Multiple Crimes
Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department have arrested four suspects in connection with 3 violent crimes that occurred in the City of Lafayette. On August 6, 2010, Jacob Martin (21) of Lafayette was arrested on a warrant for an Aggravated Burglary that occurred on August 5, 2010 at 1400 North Bertrand Drive. Investigators were able to connect Martin to a second Aggravated Burglary incident on August 3, 2010, which occurred in the 200 block of Village Lane and an Armed Robbery that occurred at 2431 Cameron Street on June 8, 2010. Martin allegedly committed the offenses with multiple accomplices.
On August 8, 2010, detectives arrested three suspects during a traffic stop believe to have participated in the three before mentioned crimes with Martin. Paul Drake (20) of Opelousas and Corlon George (24) of Lafayette were arrested and charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Burglary and 1 count of Armed Robbery. Kwambie Senegal (19) of Lafayette was arrested and charged with Aggravated Burglary in connection with the August 3, 2010, incident and the Armed Robbery.
Detectives are continuing to aggressively examine recovered property and evidence in these cases. Additional charges are possible as the investigation continues.
