Attacking Crime Through the Involvement Of Neighborhoods
The Lafayette Police Department’s A.C.T.I.O.N. Unit was created within the Police Department in an attempted to work with neighborhoods by way of high visible proactive enforcement techniques. With such proactive enforcement, the unit creates an atmosphere of peace, order and tranquility in residential neighborhoods. The A.C.T.I.O.N. Unit also engages in covert tactics that are designed to rid the affected neighborhoods of corruptive activity such as drugs, prostitution, gambling and street gangs. In ridding crime and other criminal activity, the A.C.T.I.O.N. Unit strives to provide a better quality of life in the affected neighborhoods.
The Goals of the A.C.T.I.O.N. Unit is to reduce crime levels in targeted areas and develop cooperation between the citizens and the police department. With a proactive force available for assisting in neighborhood improvements and to improve the quality of life. The unit completes this task by providing direct services and responding to citizens needs and/or making referrals to the appropriate social service agency.
Any citizen that suspects illegal activity in their neighborhood should report all information by calling 911. Reporting persons may remain anonymous.
