Lafayette, LA – The suspect involved in the simple robbery turned himself into law enforcement authorities without incident this morning. The suspect is identified as Ricky Huval (54) of Abbeville. Huval was questioned by detectives and charged with Simple Robbery. Huval was an acquaintance of Skidmore and was at Skidmore’s apartment prior to the robbery. Huval alleged Skidmore had no involvement in the crime. The robbery remains under investigation.

Simple Robbery Incident Remains under Investigation

Lafayette, LA - On Thursday, December 5, 2013 at approximately 6:30 pm, a simple robbery occurred in the 100 block of South College Road. According to the clerk, the suspect entered the convenience store and approached the counter to purchase a bottle of water. When the clerk opened the register, the suspect reached over the counter and grabbed money from the drawer. The suspect then fled on foot outside of the store. Officers responding to the incident were advised that the suspect was a white male, 6’ 00” tall, thin build wearing blue jeans and a shirt with red lettering.
As officers arrived in the area, they located a white male suspect in a nearby parking lot of an apartment complex. The suspect, Richard Skidmore (58) of Lafayette, refused to comply with the officers commands and was taken into custody after a short struggle. During the course of the investigation detectives were unable to charge Skidmore with the robbery. Skidmore was arrested for Resisting an Officer and released on a misdemeanor summons.
Detectives are asking the public to view the surveillance photo and to contact Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS with any information about the robbery.
