Afternoon Gunfire in Traffic Being Investigated

Lafayette, LA - On December 10, 2013, at approximately 6:00 pm, Lafayette Police responded to the 800 block of Kaliste Saloom Road regarding a suspect shooting into another vehicle in traffic. The victim, a 40 year old male, was traveling east on Kaliste Saloom Road when he came to a stop in traffic at its intersection with South Beadle Road. He observed a white four door Pontiac Bonneville pull beside him. The vehicle was observed to be driven by a light skinned black male. The suspect rolled down his passenger side window and began yelling at the victim. As the victim proceeded to drive forward he heard a loud bang and his car door window shattered. The victim immediately turned onto Sought Beadle Road and contacted police.
The victim received minor injuries during the incident. His 5 year old rear passenger was not injured. The suspect fled east on Kaliste Saloom Road.
Detectives are encouraging anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspect to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
