Suspect Arrested for Discharging Firearm in Apartment Complex
Lafayette, LA – On February 26, 2014, at approximately 3:00 am, Lafayette Police responded to the 800 block of South College Road regarding several shots being fired in the area.  Officers on the scene located the suspect standing in the roadway armed with a handgun.  The suspect stated he allegedly observed people in his apartment at which time he armed himself with a handgun and fired multiple shots.  Several of the shots fired exited the suspect’s apartment and entered two neighboring apartments.  There were no injuries during the incident.
It was determined from witnesses at the scene that no one was occupying the apartment with Roger prior to him firing the weapon.  Lafayette Police arrested Larry Rogers (37) of Lafayette and charged him with Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, Illegal Discharge of a Firearm within the City, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Stolen Weapon.  Rogers was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.  The investigation remains ongoing.
