Victim Shot in Car and Forced to Drive Suspect

Lafayette, LA—On June 25, 2014, at approximately 2:00 pm, Lafayette Police officers responded to the 1000 block of South Magnolia Street in reference to a shooting.  The victim told responding officers that he was sitting in his car on Magnolia Street when the suspect walked up with a handgun and demanded the victim’s money.  The victim turned over an undisclosed amount of cash after which the suspect shot the victim in the leg.  The suspect then entered the rear of the victim’s vehicle and forced the victim to drive to the 800 block of Surrey Street where the suspect exited the vehicle.  At that time the victim was able to flee in the vehicle back to Magnolia Street where he contacted the police.  The victim was transported to an area hospital where he is listed in stable condition.  The suspect, a black male, medium build, approximately 6 foot tall and wearing a muscle shirt fled the area on foot.
Detectives are encouraging anyone with information about the shootings or the identity of the suspect to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
