UPDATE Disturbance Leads to Shooting on July 4th

Lafayette, LA – On July 5, 2014, the suspect involved in the shooting on Birch Drive turned himself in at the Lafayette Police Department.  The suspect, Taylor Hebert, was arrested for Aggravated Battery by Firearm.  Hebert was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.  The investigation remains ongoing.
Disturbance Leads to Shooting on July 4th
Lafayette, LA—On July 4, 2014, at approximately 6:50 pm, Lafayette Police responded to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 300 block of Birch Drive.  According to responding officers, the victim observed that his mother was involved in a verbal altercation and went to her assistance.  When the victim intervened, the suspect produced a handgun and allegedly shot the victim in the left thigh.  The suspect was last seen fleeing into the apartment complex.  The victim, a 39 year old male of Lafayette, was transported to an area hospital with a non-life threatening injuries.    The shooting remains under investigation.
