Lafayette, LA—On July 3, 2014, at approximately 8:00 pm, Lafayette Police were called to an apartment complex near South College Road in Lafayette. The female victim advised that she was followed home by her ex-boyfriend, who forced his way into her apartment. The ex-boyfriend, who was armed with a knife and handgun, began to physically abuse the victim by striking her. Allegedly the suspect sexually assaulted the victim and refused to let the victim leave her apartment. The last thing the victim remembers was the suspect strangling her with an electrical cord. The victim advised that she lost consciousness. When the victim regained consciousness, the suspect had fled the apartment. The victim was transported to an area hospital with moderate injuries.
Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department issued an arrest warrant for the arrest of Jordan Marcel Carambat (23) of Lafayette. The warrants were issued for Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Rape, Home Invasion and False Imprisonment.
On July 4, 2014, Carambat was arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. The investigation remains ongoing.
