UPDATE: Lafayette Police Investigate Two Shooting in 24 Hours

Lafayette, LA – On August 17, 2014, the suspect in the E. Martial shooting turned himself in to authorities at the Lafayette Police Department.  The suspect, Charles Guidry, Jr (57) of Lafayette, was arrested and charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault by Drive by Shooting and Criminal Damage to Property.  The investigation remains ongoing.
Police Investigate Two Shootings within 24 Hours

Lafayette, LA – On August 15, 2014, at approximately 4:00 pm, Lafayette Police responded to the 100 block of E. Marshall Avenue regarding a shooting.  The victim told police he was operating his vehicle on Marshall Avenue when the operator of another vehicle became enraged with him for unknown reasons.  The suspect operating the vehicle, a white male in his 50’s, fired one shot from a handgun, striking the victim’s vehicle.  The victim was not injured and the suspect fled the area. 
On August 16, 2014, at approximately 2:30 am, Lafayette Police were dispatched to a shooting in the parking lot of Taco Bell, in the 2400 block of West Congress Street.  The two male victims advised they were sitting in their vehicle when two suspects on the parking lot called for them to exit the vehicle and fight. When the victims attempted to drive away, one of the suspects began firing numerous times at the vehicle.   The vehicle and a nearby building were struck by the gunfire.  The victims were not injured.  The suspects, two black males, fled the area in a vehicle.
Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department are encouraging anyone with information about the shootings to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
