Police Investigate Three Overnight Armed Robberies
 

Lafayette, LA – On May 18, 2016, at approximately 11:15 pm, Lafayette Police responded to an armed robbery in the 800 block of N. Pierce Street.  According to responding officers, two male victims had arranged to meet with two individuals to sell two cell phones on N. Pierce Street.  As the victims arrived on the parking lot they observed a black male wearing a grey hooded sweat shirt with a white t-shirt over it exit an older model Chevy Impala. The suspect walked over to the victims’ car and sat in the rear seat.  The suspect produced a handgun and demanded the victims’ cellphones.  The suspect fled south on N. Pierce Street.  The victims were not injured during the robbery.

 
On May 19, 2016, at approximately 1:00 am, officers responded to an armed robbery in the 3000 block of Moss Street.  The two male victims told officers they were at the carwash when a black female approached them requesting a dollar.  Moments later two black males walked up, one armed with a handgun and the other with a rifle demanding the victims lay on the ground.  The suspects stole cell phones, money and keys and then fled the area in a blue older model Ford Taurus.  The suspects were described as two young black males wearing gray or black hooded sweat shirts.  The female suspect was wearing all black.  The victims were not injured during the robbery.
 
At approximately 3:15 am, officers responded to an armed robbery in the 300 block of Claudia Drive.  According to the female victim, she had just returned home and was exiting her vehicle, when she was approached by two armed suspects wearing a mask and hooded sweat shirts.  One of the suspects struck the victim in the head with a gun and then stole her purse.  The suspects fled the area in a vehicle.  The victim was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. Detectives are attempting to determine if any of the robberies are related.  They are encouraging the public to contact the Lafayette Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS with any information about the crimes or the identity of the suspects.
