UPDATE - Disturbance Escalates to Gunfire
 

Lafayette, LA – Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department have issued an Attempted 2nd Degree Murder arrest warrant for the arrest of Kavante Richmond (19) of Lafayette.  Richmond, who was identified as being one of the men walking on the roadway, is believed to have been the aggressor during the disturbance.  Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Richmond is encouraged to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.

Disturbance Escalates to Gunfire
Original Release: June 7, 2016 @ 4:45 pm

Lafayette, LA – On June 7, 2016, at approximately 2:30 pm, Lafayette Police responded to the location of a shooting near the intersection of Debaillon and Doc Duhon.  When officers arrived the male victim had suffered a graze wound on the side of the head.  The victim was transported to an area hospital in good condition.  According to investigators, two men were walking on Debaillon Street when they began to argue with a male and female standing in the yard at 301 Doc Duhon Street.  One of the males on the street pulled out a pistol and began shooting in the direction of the male and female in the yard.  The male in the yard pulled out pistol and began returning fire at the two men in the street.  One of the men in the street received a graze wound on the side of the head by the gunfire.  The other three persons involved in the disturbance ran from the area. 

Detectives are in the process of locating those three persons that fled the area and speaking to the gunshot victim at the hospital.  Anyone with information about the shooting or the identity of those individuals involved is encouraged to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
