UPDATE: Suspects Arrested in Downtown Robbery

Lafayette, LA – Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department have arrested a 16 year old male juvenile and a 14 year old male juvenile in connection with the downtown robbery.  Both juveniles turned themselves in to Lafayette Police on Tuesday evening. The juveniles were each charged with Armed Robbery and booked into the Lafayette Parish Juvenile Detention Center.  The investigation remains ongoing.

Identity of Suspects Sought in Armed Robbery

Lafayette, LA – Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying 2 armed robbery suspects.  On August 3, 2016, at approximately 10:15 pm, a male and female victim was standing near a vehicle in the 100 block of West Vermillion Street.  The two victims were approached by two male suspects.  One of the suspects produced a handgun and demanded the victims’ phones and money.  The suspects would steal both victims’ phones and then flee the area on foot towards Buchanan Street.  The suspects were captured on surveillance video just prior to the robbery.
Detectives are encouraging anyone with information about the robbery or the identity of the suspects to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
