Police Investigate Two Overnight Armed Robberies
 

Lafayette, LA – On August 20, 2016, at approximately 2:30 am, Lafayette Police responded to an armed robbery in the 600 block of Omega Drive.  According to the male victim, he had walked outside beneath his carport at his residence when a black male wearing a white bandana over his face approached him demanding money.  The victim told the armed suspect he had no money.  The suspect then fled on foot towards Montgomery Drive.  The suspect was described as being a thin build male and 5’ 10” tall.  The victim was not injured during the robbery.

At approximately 2:52 am, Lafayette Police responded to the report of an armed robbery in the 100 block of Bay Rum Drive.  According to the victim, she was exiting her vehicle at her residence when a black male wearing a bandana over his face approached her armed with a handgun.  The suspect demanded the victim’s purse and then struck the victim in the head with the handgun causing a minor laceration to her head. The suspect then entered the residence and robbed a second female victim of her purse.  The suspect was last seen fleeing the area on foot.
Both armed robberies remain under investigation.  It is unknown at this time if the two robberies are connected.  Detectives are encouraging anyone with information about the robberies to contact Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
