UPDATE: Victim of July Shooting Dies from Injuries
 

Lafayette, LA - On August 21, 2016 the 34 year old victim, Kalie Cormier, of Rayne passed away at a hospital in the New Orleans area after complications related to the original head injury he suffered in the shooting on July 17th. The Lafayette Police Department is still actively investigating the shooting. Any individual with information about this shooting is urged to contact the Lafayette Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS

 
Suspect Sought in Jefferson Street Shooting

Lafayette, LA – On July 17, 2016, at approximately 2:05 am, Lafayette Police Officers working the downtown Jefferson Street detail, responded to shots being fired in the area of Jefferson Street and Cypress Street.  As officers arrived on the scene they discovered three victims.  The first victim, a 34 year old male of Rayne, suffered a single gunshot wound to the head and was transported to the hospital in critical condition.  The second victim, a 22 year old male of Lafayette, was shot in the neck area and is in good condition.  The third victim, a 20 year old male of Grand Coteau, was shot once in the hand and is listed in good condition.  The victims could not provide investigators with any suspect information.
Detectives are encouraging anyone with information about the shooting or the identity of the suspect to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
