UPDATE: New Details in Homicide Investigation
 

Lafayette, LA- Lafayette police have confirmed that the victim’s body was found dismembered in a toolbox. Out of respect for the family of the victim, the condition of the body will not be elaborated upon by the Police Department. The Lafayette Police Department was already investigating the whereabouts of the victim, Alannah L. Montalvo, when a tip was forwarded through the Duson Police Department to the Lafayette Police and Sheriff’s Office. That information led to the discovery of the body and the connection of the deceased suspect to the victim.    

 
UPDATE: Vehicle Located in Homicide Investigation

Lafayette, LA- Investigators have located the vehicle sought in connection with the homicide. The vehicle is being examined, but is not believed to have been involved in the crime.
 
                             

       
                                       
 
 
UPDATE: Victim Identified in Homicide Investigation
Original Release: September 21, 2016
Lafayette, LA – Investigators have identified the victim as Alannah L. Montalvo (23) of Lafayette.  According to the ongoing investigation, Montalvo was in a relationship with the suspect killed in the Fanny Street Shooting, Barrett B. Farabee II (36). Based on forensic evidence and statements obtained during the course of both investigations, Farabee is believed to be the suspect responsible for Montalvo’s death.  Investigators are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle registered to Farabee, a green 2-door 2002 Honda Accord with Tennessee license plate “505JGQ”.  Both Farabee and Montalvo were known to operate the vehicle.

 Police Responds to a Body being found

Lafayette, LA- On September 20, 2016 at approximately 4:00 p.m., Lafayette Police along with the Lafayette Sheriff’s Office responded to the 300 block of S. Wilderness Trail after receiving a tip about the location of a possible body. Officers responded and located a body enclosed in a tool box. The identity of the victim or the cause of death has not been determined at this time pending results from the Coroner’s Office. The investigation is ongoing.
