Update: Arrest in Fatal Crash

 Lafayette, LA- On today, April 5, 2017 at approximately 2:30pm, Lafayette Police arrested 24 year old Joseph Dakota Richey (3/23/93 w/m) of Scott in connection to the crash that killed one driver on Monday April 3, 2017. Richey was released from a local hospital today after being treated for injuries related to the crash. At that time, Richey was taken into custody by the Lafayette Police Department and booked into the parish jail.  Richey is facing multiple traffic and criminal charges including Misuse of Two-way Center Turn Lane, Speeding, Reckless Operation, Seatbelt Violation, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Schedule I( marijuana) , OWI (2nd Offense), and Vehicular Homicide.

Update: Deceased Driver Identified
Released: April 3, 2017
Lafayette, LA- The deceased driver has been identified as 28 year old Brad Colby Wedlock (w/m) of Lafayette. Wedlock passed away after his vehicle was struck from the rear during the crash. The crash is still under investigation. Excessive speed is believed to have been a factor.
Update: Fatal Crash 3900 W. Congress St.
Lafayette, LA- One driver, a white male, has passed away as a result of injuries sustained during the crash. Drivers from two other vehicles were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries related to the crash as well. A total of 4 vehicles are believed to have been involved.  The roadway remains closed as a full traffic investigation is under way. Commuters are encourages to seek alternates routes to avid the 3900 block of W. Congress St.

Lafayette, LA— Lafayette Police are on the scene of a major traffic accident in the 3900 block of W. Congress. St. All Lanes of W. Congress have been shut down at that location in reference to an accident with injuries, involving at least two vehicles. At least one person has been transported with substantial injuries.  Advise drivers to seek alternate routes.
