 Project Front Yard
Project Front Yard is an initiative which brings together individuals, business, government and media partners to address community beautification through education.

Project Front Yard is YOU! 
Our mission is to build awareness and stimulate ACTION to improve the face of our community. Initiatives under Project Front Yard include revitalization of gateways, improved streetscapes, litter removal and prevention, public art, river cleanup, and education. And people just like YOU are making a difference! 
RockseyCalling All K-4 Teachers! 
Project Front Yard, in conjunction with Keep Louisiana Beautiful and Keep Lafayette Beautiful, is excited to offer Lafayette Parish schools a free environmental education curriculum being launched this year.
Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s education program contains 10 environmental lesson plans, hands-on activities for a variety of grade levels, fun activity sheets, GLE matches, and additional resources. Topics include; defining litter, timeline of trash, litter decomposition, watershed, clean water, effects on wildlife, plastics, reducing, reusing, recycling and civic responsibility.

For Schools


 For Individuals

  • Begin by taking responsibility for cleaning up and maintaining your own front yard
  • Next time you walk by litter, PICK IT UP.
  • Help encourage others to take responsibility for our collective Front Yard in Lafayette (our public spaces)
  • Come up with your own project that will help improve our public or private spaces and get to work!
  • Join one of the many groups around town already doing the work and start helping, ReCover Acadiana, Trees Acadiana, Upper Lafayette Economic Development Foundation, The705, Keep Lafayette Beautiful, Bayou Vermilion Preservation Association, Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission, Acadiana Center for the Arts, Downtown Development Authority, Downtown Lafayette Unlimited, Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, Lafayette Garden Club, Clean City Committee, Lafayette Neighborhood Coteries, and the list goes on!


For Businesses or Organizations

  • Embrace this spaceEmbrace This Space is a commitment by an organization or business to help beautify a public space by conducting quarterly litter cleanup events of the designated space. The adopted space must be a minimum of either of the following options:
    • ½ mile on a four-lane divided roadway, or;
    • 1 mile on a two-lane undivided roadway, or;
    • 1 intersection, including all space within a radius of 200 feet from each street corner
    • A park, field or public space equaling to 1 acre, or an agreed upon area approved by a LCG representative

  • Sign the Business Participation Agreement, return agreement to LCG and proudly display your decal on your business doors.
  • Come up with a project that your business can engage with that will improve public spaces in our community and let us know about it
  • Encourage your employees to take responsibility for what your business looks like and work on recognizing those people in your office who do the work beautifying our Front Yard
