The Lafayette Comprehensive Plan is well underway, and it is time for more community input. Forum Series Three will be held on Tuesday, May 14, from 4-8 PM at the Rosa Parks Transportation Center, 101 Jefferson Street, and again on Wednesday, May 15th from 11 AM-3 PM at the Heymann Performing Arts Center, 1373 S. College Road. The Open House style forums will allow attendees to review information at their own pace, and staff members will be available throughout the forum to answer questions. The public is encouraged to attend and lend their opinion to this important project.
Following the tremendous input from the community during Forum Series One and Two, the feedback was reviewed and a number of similarities and priorities for future development and redevelopment began to emerge. These themes have been consolidated into three alternative growth scenarios. During Forum Series Three, the public is invited to look at these three land use concepts, representing different residential development and "place types" and an assessment of how much development can be accommodated in each "targeted" area. Various indicators will be provided which tell a story about each scenario. Community input collected at Forum Series Three will be analyzed as Lafayette moves one step closer to determining the future of our community.
"The future of Lafayette is something that everyone here cares about. We are encouraging everyone to attend, voice their thoughts and participate in a process that is going to affect their future and their childrens’ futures. Public participation is vital to the success of the Comprehensive Plan," says Kevin Blanchard, Chairperson of the Lafayette Comprehensive Plan Citizens Advisory Committee.
