At 8:00 a.m. June 1, 2013 a new tradition begins in Lafayette, the opening of the Lafayette Farmers and Artisan Market at the Horse Farm.
About 40 Local farmers, fishers, value-added producers and artisans will have booths on the tree shaded grounds of Lafayette's future central park location. The community is invited to enjoy the pristine land before it is officially open in the atmosphere of the Horse Farm while shopping for fresh local food choices and arts and crafts. Proceeds from the market are held at the Community Foundation of Acadiana and are dedicated to the Horse Farm.
“We couldn’t be more excited to open up this beautiful property to the community once a week. This is all part of keeping the momentum and the excitement up about the Horse Farm, so that when the hard work of fund raising begins, the community embraces that effort to ensure that this place becomes a world-class park for Lafayette, in fact for all of Acadiana,” said City-Parish President Joey Durel.
