Lafayette Consolidated Government announced today the scheduling of PlanLafayette Week next month.
PlanLafayette Week will be a celebration of the draft comprehensive plan and its planning concepts. The public will have an opportunity to give feedback on the draft plan that has been developed after a two year long community-wide effort.
Following the tremendous input from the community during Forum Series One, Two and Three, the feedback was reviewed and a number of similarities and priorities for future development and redevelopment began to emerge. In the third series, held last May, attendees had the opportunity to vote on one of three alternative growth scenarios. Once selected, development of the draft plan by consultant Wallace, Roberts & Todd (WRT) began, and WRT will present the plan on Tuesday, February 11 and Wednesday, February 12.
In addition, LCG has partnered with several community institutions to host activities around the plan’s four big themes: Refine Government, Revitalize Neighborhoods, Reenvision Natural Resources, and Reinvent the Hub City. Details of those events will be announced over the next several weeks.
“We’ve heard from thousands of citizens about their vision for a future Lafayette that continues to thrive while retaining our rich culture. We now have a draft plan, and we can start the discussion as a community about what it will take to make that plan a reality. PlanLafayette week will be a great way to get people excited and educated about our shared future,” said City-Parish President Joey Durel in a statement.
