Draft Plan released, first Forum to be held tonight

Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) continues PlanLafayette Week.  After nearly a week of events sponsored by community partners, today marks the first of two open house forums intended to expose residents to the draft plan and the major action items recommended by the plan.

The events that have led up to the forums have been structured around the action items recommended in the four “big ideas.”  The four big ideas—which are made up of more than 400 action items—are Refine Government, Reinvent the Hub City, Revitalize Neighborhoods, and Reenvision Natural Resources.

The draft plan is now available for download at planlafayette.com and will be presented at the two open house forums which wrap up PlanLafayette week on Tuesday, February 11 at the LITE Center from 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday, February 12 at the Acadiana Center for the Arts from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m.

“We have had nearly 2000 people participate in PlanLafayette Week activities so far, and we are so excited about the enthusiasm out there. So far, the events have been about illustrating a particular concept or concepts in the plan.  The forums tonight at LITE and tomorrow at ACA during lunch are about the big picture, and so we really encourage people to come out and learn about all of the recommendations made by the people of Lafayette,” said City-Parish President Joey Durel.
