Lafayette, LA— Mike Mouton, longtime Lafayette Parish Government and LCG employee, who has served in several positions in both governments including Chief Administrative Officer, has taken over as administrator of the juvenile detention home.  Previously, Mouton had served as the Emergency and Security Operations Coordinator for LCG.

Mouton replaces longtime administrator of the juvenile detention home (JDH), Rene Prejean, who retired March 3.  Mouton has served as interim JDH administrator since that time.  Mouton is a graduate of then USL, BA English/History Education, taught for eight years in the public school system and holds a lifetime teaching certificate for grades 6 through 12.

Bobby Cormier, Assistant to City-Parish President Joey Durel, has been appointed Emergency and Security Operations Coordinator, replacing Mouton.  Cormier has served as the Assistant to the City-Parish President the last ten years and has a background in law enforcement.

“We thank Rene for his long service, and we look forward to working with Mike and Bobby in their new roles.  Mike’s long career, which includes a background in law enforcement, gives him a unique combination of skills suited to serve in this challenging position.  Bobby’s government experience, along with his law enforcement background with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff Department and the Lafayette City Marshals Office, have served him well since he has been at the center of many of our emergency operations and security issues, and so he will quickly be able to step into his new duties,” said City-Parish President Joey Durel in a statement.

Katherine McCormick was hired to replace Bobby Cormier as Assistant to City-Parish President, Constituent Services Coordinator. McCormick, a Lafayette native, received her Bachelor’s Degree from Louisiana State University in 2002. Her graduate work reflects her desire to combine her business sense with her passion for community: Katherine has both her Masters in Business Administration and Masters in Social Work from Tulane University. Katherine currently serves as a board member for Miles Perret Cancer Services and Leadership Institute of Acadiana and is an active member of Junior League of Lafayette. She is a graduate of Leadership Lafayette Class XXII and a founding member of The United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council.
