The Department of Community Development (DCD) has been a part of the local government since 1976. The department’s goal is to promote services geared toward enhancing the physical, social, economic, educational, and cultural conditions of the jurisdiction of the Lafayette Consolidated Government.
Over the years, the DCD has served the Lafayette area by providing: housing services to low/moderate-income households and special needs households; economic development opportunities; housing and financial counseling; neighborhood revitalization activities; art, cultural, and historic programs; senior programs; homeless services; and many others.
The Department is comprised of seven (7) divisions:
- Governmental and Business Relations
- Housing
- Human Services
- Arts and Culture
- Lafayette Business and Career Solutions Center
- Acadiana Recovery Center
- Operations: The Operations Division’s primary focus is to organize and facilitate administrative duties. The division handles the department’s seven budgets, personnel issues and administrative duties.
