Lafayette Mayor-President Joel Robideaux will assign Public Works Associate Director Terry Cordick as Interim Public Works Director until a permanent Director is named. Cordick will step in to the role on June 1, as current Director Tom Carroll will vacate the positon on May 31.

Cordick has 27 years of experience within the Public Works Department, nearly 10 of those years as Associate Director. During the Robideaux administration transition, Cordick served as Interim Director between November 2015 and January 2016.

Carroll was originally appointed as the Director in 2004 before retiring in 2014. In late 2015, newly-elected Robideaux asked Carroll to return for an interim period to assist in the start-up of his administration until he could conduct a search for a replacement. Earlier this spring, Carroll announced his plans to conclude his provisional appointment by May 31.

“I’m grateful to Tom for his service to the citizens of Lafayette Parish and for his leadership in the aftermath of the August flood. His experience and dedication were invaluable to my administration during our first year and a half,” stated Robideaux.
