Public Comment Hearing on Parish Revenue Evaluation

Since January 27, 2017, the Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) Funding Evaluations/Finance Liaison Committee has conducted a total of 14 meetings and presentations to discuss and assess Lafayette Parish property taxes and revenue shortfalls. The Committee members, consisting of Councilman Jay Castille (Committee Chair), Councilman Kenneth Boudreaux (Council Chair), Councilman Bruce Conque (LPUA Chair), and Councilman Kevin Naquin (Council Vice-Chair), have conferred with the Lafayette Mayor-President, the heads of various LCG Departments, each municipality within Lafayette Parish, those taxing entities with a Parish millage, and numerous community stakeholders through the Lafayette Parish Council of Governments.

The Committee is currently in the process of intensely studying the feedback obtained over the course of its public meetings held thus far. In order to directly obtain input from the citizens of Lafayette Parish, the Committee will host a Public Comment Hearing at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2017 in the Lafayette City-Parish Council Auditorium at 705 West University Avenue. Citizens are strongly urged to come prepared to share recommendations/suggestions on bolstering Parish revenues needed to address services related to roads and bridges, drainage, fire protection, recreation and parks, and Parish facilities now and in the future.​​​​
