A Grant Writing Workshop for Lafayette Consolidated Government’s (LCG) External Agency Funding Program will be held on Wednesday, August 16. Two tailored sessions will be offered focusing on Arts and Culture or Social Services. Arts and Culture agency applicants are invited to attend at 10 a.m. and Social Service agency applicants should join the 11 a.m. session. Both sessions will be hosted at Acadiana Center for the Arts (AcA), located at 101 W. Vermilion St., in Lafayette.

Through the External Agencies Funding Program, LCG supports Social Service and Arts and Culture agencies which enhance the economic, social, cultural and educational welfare of citizens of Lafayette Parish. Grants are available to Social Service and Arts and Culture agencies with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service.

“The EAFP program supports the work of a number of arts and culture and social services agencies that have made lasting contributions to the Lafayette community,” said Dr. Shaneá Nelson, LCG Community Development Director.

The LCG Community Development Department administers the Social Service funding program. A Social Service agency is generally defined as an agency that provides direct services to people in need. A Social Service agency may serve the general public or specific populations such as children, victims of domestic violence, or persons with disabilities.

LCG partners with AcA to administer the Arts and Culture funding program. An Arts and Culture agency is generally defined as an agency whose mission statement makes clear that the agency's primary purpose is to develop, promote, encourage and/or present the arts to the public. Eligible agencies should ensure community accessibility to programs and target diverse populations.

The application and guidelines for Social Service agencies can be found at http://lafayettela.gov/CommunityDevelopment/Pages/External-Agencies-Funding-Program.aspx.
