National Weather Service Afternoon Update for Lafayette Parish

On Monday, August 28 at 4:30 p.m., Lafayette Parish Mayor-President Joel Robideaux attended an emergency update and briefing along with other municipal leaders and law enforcement officers at the Emergency Operations Command Center.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) update, Lafayette Parish is forecast to receive approximately three more inches of rain late tonight or early Tuesday morning, with 2-5 inches of additional rain accumulation through Friday. Note: The NWS is reporting the potential for higher rain totals in south central Louisiana, depending on where the rain bands develop.
 
As of 4:15 p.m., the Vermilion River Surrey Street gauge was measuring at 12.13 gauge height, which is almost a three foot increase in 24 hours.
