Lafayette Consolidated Government’s (LCG) Community Development Department Neighborhood Counseling Services will host a Home Buyer’s Forum on Tuesday, October 24, 2017.

The forum will host potential home buyers to gather information and ask questions from housing counselors about homeownership opportunities and mortgage financing. Those who are considering homeownership are encouraged to attend this free event to be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Lafayette Parish Main Library, located at 301 West Congress Street.

“This event is a forum for mortgage financing, so potential homeowners can begin the process one step at a time. They will be advised on how to become ‘lender-ready’ and how Community Development’s services can assist them in their journey,” stated Peggy Lee, Neighborhood Counseling Services Coordinator.

Attendees can expect to receive information on Louisiana Housing Corporation Programs, Federal Housing Administration and Veterans Affairs Loans and LCG’s Down Payment Assistance Program. Representatives from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, BancorpSouth, Home Bank and IBERIABANK will be on hand to discuss programs and products for homebuyers.

Dr. Shanea Nelson, Director of the Community Development Department said the forum is an excellent gathering of experts stating, “We are excited about the opportunity to partner with agencies throughout Lafayette Parish to share resources that are integral to the home-buying process.”

Attendance is encouraged from individuals who hope to one day become homeowners. The event is being held to empower people to achieve the goal of homeownership.
