Established in September 2007, Lafayette's SafeSpeed Program is one of Louisiana's first speed monitoring programs.

Several Lafayette intersections are equipped with SafeSpeed cameras that monitor and record motorists speeding. Additionally two speed vans will monitor speeding

SafeSpeed's goal coupled with the SafeLight Program is to decrease the severity and number of crashes at intersections and along roadway sections.
