LCG Launches OpenBook

New Tool to Increase Transparency in Government

Lafayette Consolidated Government is announcing the launch of OpenBook, an online financial transparency tool for citizens to see how government is spending taxpayer dollars. The web-based, interactive tool gives citizens the opportunity to examine individual departmental budgets and expenses as well as view data and graphs. The OpenBook website will be updated weekly on Mondays.

"Feet on the Street" Campaign aims to reduce contamination

Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) and The Recycling Partnership are working together to reduce waste and improve curbside recycling in the city of Lafayette. Starting Monday, November 16 through Friday, December 11, educational stickers will be placed on carts showing which items belong in carts and those that don’t. In order for the sticker to be applied, residents are asked to put their carts at the road on their waste collection day.

Lafayette Consolidated Government's Drainage Department is devoted entirely to drainage solutions and maintenance in Lafayette Parish. Citizens can view ongoing and upcoming drainage projects in Lafayette Parish as well as report a drainage issue using the 311 Lafayette portal.

311 Lafayette is a convenient all-in-one tool for connecting citizens to government services. Citizens can submit and track their requests online at 311lafayette.services or by calling 311 from within the Parish.

Cat's Clocking In

Working cats are available at no cost to Lafayette Parish citizens in need of all-natural pest control through the Cat's Clocking In Working Cat Program. A working cat is a domestic cat that is unsuitable for traditional adoption and instead "works" for its food, shelter and care by hunting and deterring rodents from its “employer’s” property. They are commonly employed where pest control is needed such as barns, farms, factories, warehouses, stores, and private property.

FREE COMPOST

Available at Dean Domingues Compost Facility

At LCG's compost facility, "Green waste" such as tree branches, grass and shrub trimmings are ground up and re-made into a nutrient-rich soil additive. This compost is available to citizens at no cost. The composting program helps to keep Lafayette's garbage disposal rates stable; reduces waste that would otherwise go to a landfill; and best of all, citizens can pick up free compost.
