The award marks eight straight years for the Office of Finance and Management

For eight consecutive years, Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) has received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its fiscal year 2020-2021 budget. The award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and exemplifies the Office of Finance and Management’s commitment to provide a budget document that serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communication tool for our community.

“Our staff goes above and beyond the minimum requirements of Louisiana Revised Statutes and our local Home Rule Charter in preparing this document. The extra work includes a section explaining how to use the document, charts and graphical views, a lengthy 10 year statistical history of revenues, expenses, and economic data, along with a detailed glossary. Out of 367 parish and municipal governments in Louisiana, only 13 have earned this award. Our staff takes great pride in meeting and exceeding the recognized best practices for our budget document”, CPA and LCG Chief Financial Officer Lorrie Toups said.

The Office of Finance and Management satisfied nationally recognized guidelines to receive a “proficient” rating in the four required categories: policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications device. In addition, the office was proficient in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories.
