LCG CELEBRATES GRAND OPENING AND RIBBON CUTTING OF MOORE PARK SOCCER COMPLEX
Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG)’s Parks, Arts, Recreation and Culture (PARC) Department celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the Moore Park Soccer Complex, marking a $16 million City-funded investment in recreation, youth athletics, and quality of life in Lafayette Parish.
The project delivers a modern, community-focused facility featuring nine state-of-the-art soccer fields and a stadium designed to serve athletes, families, and visitors from across the parish and region. Improvements include a mural by LCVC’s Lance Leblanc, playground, concessions, field-adjacent parking, locker rooms, restrooms, referee locker room, shaded spectator areas, and improved connectivity throughout the park.
“Moore Park has been a part of so many families’ lives in Lafayette,” said Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet. “I spent many days here with my own kids, moving from field to field and cheering them on. This new complex carries that tradition forward, creating a place for kids to grow, families to connect, and our community to continue building a bright future together.”
Located along the University Avenue corridor, Moore Park sits in an area experiencing continued momentum and revitalization. LCG is also pursuing a $2.8 million roadway and bridge connection along Sonny Roy Lane to improve access between the northern and southern portions of the park, with construction expected to begin next summer using State Capital Outlay and local funding.
The grand opening coincides with this weekend’s Copa Acadiana tournament, which will bring thousands of athletes and families to Lafayette and showcase the new complex to visitors from across the region.
Project partners recognized during the ceremony included the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission (LCVC), Bon Temps Concessions, which will serve as the park’s concessionaire, and LA Krewe Rush, which will utilize Moore Park as its home for competitive soccer. The design team included C.H. Fenstermaker & Associates, LAND Architecture, Prouet Architecture & Engineering, and M&E Consulting, with Ratcliff Construction Company serving as the contractor.
With the ribbon officially cut, the Moore Park Soccer Complex is now open and ready to serve the Lafayette community and visiting teams.
