UPDATE: DEBUTANTE ROAD DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS COMPLETED AHEAD OF SCHEDULE

Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Consolidated Government has completed the Debutante Road drainage improvements at Beau Bassin Coulee ahead of schedule.

Originally scheduled to last through 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, the work was finished in two days, and Debutante Road is now fully reopened to traffic.

Public Works Drainage crews repaired three culverts—each 86 inches in diameter and approximately 49 feet long—using Reinforced Concrete Roll (RCR), manufactured by Inland Tarp & Liner (ITL) and supplied locally by QSM, who also provided technical support.

What would have cost nearly $1.1 million and required 6–9 months of construction for full replacement was completed for just under $16,000 in materials, installed entirely by LCG’s in-house drainage team. The RCR system comes with a 30-year limited warranty, providing long-term protection.

This innovative solution creates a durable concrete lining that strengthens culverts, improves flow, and helps prevent washouts. Compared to replacement, it is faster, less disruptive, and more cost-effective, saving taxpayer dollars while reducing traffic impacts.

LCG thanks our Public Works and Drainage teams for embracing new technologies and continually finding smarter ways to improve infrastructure and protect the community.
