GROUNDBREAKING HELD FOR HEYMANN PARK AMPHITHEATER

Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) broke ground today on the new Heymann Park Amphitheater, a $4.68 million project that will transform a former baseball field into a modern, 2.5-acre venue for community performances and events. The amphitheater will accommodate up to 5,000 people and includes a vendor pavilion, restrooms, and dedicated parking for performers and vendors. Construction is expected to wrap up by the end of 2026.

“Music and culture are at the heart of Lafayette, and this project builds on that legacy,” said Mayor-President Monique B. Boulet. “The amphitheater will serve as a new gathering place for families, neighbors, and visitors, and marks the first step in reimagining Heymann Park.”

Built in the 1950s, Heymann Park has long been a community hub. With this investment, the park will continue that tradition in new ways, as several community leaders and elected officials mentioned during today’s ceremony.

LCG thanks Governor Jeff Landry, Senator Gerald Boudreaux, and Representative Tehmi Chassion for helping secure state funding, and the Lafayette City Council, especially Councilman Kenneth Boudreaux (District 5), for advancing the project.

Pecot & Co Architects designed the project, with Castle Row Construction serving as contractor, alongside LCG’s Public Works and Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Culture (PARC) departments.
