LCG CONNECTS RESIDENTS TO HOUSING, HEALTH & SAFETY RESOURCES DURING COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WEEK
Series of free events scheduled April 7-9 across Lafayette Parish
Lafayette, LA – Lafayette Consolidated Government’s Development & Planning Department is inviting residents to connect with the people, resources, and information that support stronger, healthier neighborhoods during National Community Development Week, April 6-10, 2026.
Through a series of free events, residents, contractors, and community partners will have the opportunity to access housing resources, better understand their rights, and learn how to create safer living environments across Lafayette Parish.
- Live Well Lafayette: Community Resource Fair | Tuesday, April 7, 2026 | 9AM-1PM | MLK Recreation Center (309 Cora St.)
- Kick off the week by connecting directly with local organizations offering support for housing, healthcare, and everyday needs

- Fair Housing Workshop with Ross Shales | Wednesday, April 8, 2026 | 9AM-11:30AM | Clifton Chenier Center Auditorium (220 W. Willow St.)
- Learn your rights and responsibilities when it comes to housing. In partnership with Expert Insurance Services, this session will break down fair housing laws in a clear, accessible way – covering who is protected, what’s covered, and how to recognize and prevent discrimination.
- The workshop will also include guidance on lead safety, including disclosure requirements and steps to take when elevated blood lead levels are identified.
- Contractor Workshop + EPA Certification | Thursday, April 9, 2026 | 8AM-5PM | Jesse L. Taylor Center (111 Shirley Picard Drive)
- Designed for contractors and industry professionals, this session – hosted in partnership with Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together Acadiana – focuses on safe, compliant work practices.
- Participants can also complete EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) certification, helping ensure safer homes for Lafayette families.
These events reflect Lafayette Consolidated Government’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to resources, strengthening neighborhoods, and supporting safe, equitable housing across the parish.
