Patrick Lewis, City Council District 1

Councilman Patrick Lewis represents Lafayette City Council District 1, the seat to which he was elected in 2019. He retired from Lafayette Parish School System with 26 years of combined service between the Transportation Division and the Sales Tax Division.  Prior to that, Councilman Lewis was employed in the banking industry for 14 years.

Councilman Lewis was a member of the sixth and final Lafayette City- Parish Council. He was elected to the City-Parish District 3 seat in 2015 and served a single term.  During his City-Parish Council tenure, Councilman Lewis served on the Lafayette Public Utilities Authority and gained leadership experience by serving as Vice Chair of the Council. He has always recognized the importance of listening to the needs of the constituents and businesses within his Council District.  Councilman Lewis aims to shift their concerns into workable proposals as he builds unity among the City Council to effect change. He is solidly committed to striking a cohesive balance within City District 1. Councilman Lewis believes that all residents of City District 1 can have a role in shaping the future of where they live and work in order to attain a better quality of life.

Councilman Lewis is a graduate of Lafayette High School and holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Louisiana at Lafayette.  He is married to Tracy Mouton Lewis and they share two (2) adult children – Dana and Dustin – and one (1) grandson.
